Canon Powershot S60Welcome
Hello Cohorts, It is I Rachel Fields bringing to you what you've been yearning for, pining over, and daydreaming about for weeks now; my photolog. Now all of you can stop asking me for that picture I took of you when you were totally crunked last friday night, because it's probably here somewhere.
While I'm at it I'd like to give a special thanks to Stu, because without his help this never would have happened. Stu, I never thought i'd say this again, but you're Amazing! Also a thanks to Dan and Rich for their creative input and debugging help
Just a short bio
I was born January 9th, 1984 somewhere in Queens, Ny. Thereafter I spent 18 miserable years living on Long Island's Gold Coast in a town called Roslyn. Salvation finally came through college, well sorta, where I am currently a Junior at Cornell University studying Biological Engineering, or at least that's what they tell me I study. Other hobbies include bowling, avidly staring at things related to frogs, complaining, whining and not doing drugs, because drugs are bad.
This summer I took a photo class in Florence, Italy, came back home bought a fatty digital camera and took a web design class...If this were a kitchen, it would definitely smell like there was a photolog in the oven. So without further delay, here's the unvailing of fightforbeauty.org. Please, I'd love to hear your feedback and any improvements you think could be made, as hopefully it will be improved and updated regularly. Enjoy your stay.
Why Fight For Beauty?
Well why the fuck not??? People always ask me this, so here's the long and short of it. First the short, the picture you see on the homepage is a photo I obviously took. A lot of photobloggers take some random photo they took and name their website based on it...here's an example: Satan's Laundromat. I did the same thing basically. Sorry if you think that's an ugly photo and an ugly concept and only symmetric things are beautiful...and yatta yatta yatta, deal with it. The long of it is I really do think people have a hard time telling when something is truly beautiful, including myself, and that it is something worth trying to understand better. If nothing else I hope this website at least will, make you ask yourself and contemplate what you think beauty really is. Is it something you run into in your daily lives? Or something that only comes around more sporadically? Is it obvious? Or is it found in the places you least expect? And most importantly, Do you think it's worth fighting for?
